1 La miseria es el resultado de una ausencia de encuentros entre las personas en pobreza extrema y aquellas que no conocen esta situación. Por lo tanto hay que aprender a construir espacios de encuentro duraderos, pues ignorar la experiencia y la inteligencia de aquellos que viven en la miseria constituye un derroche inaceptable. Es una violencia hecha a la humanidad que la impide de realizar sus retos de un vida común basada en la justicia y la paz. Para respetar la elaboración del pensamiento de cada uno se necesita tiempo, espacios donde no se termine nunca una frase en lugar de una persona que tiene dificultades en hacerlo; espacios donde no se interrumpa a nadie mientras reflexiona; espacios donde no se reformule nunca una idea que puede parecer confusa; espacios donde no se priva a nadie de su parecer; espacios donde no se tenga miedo de los silencios necesarios para la reflexión y la comprensión. 1 En el mundo en que vivimos, donde hay que hacer frente a tantos retos, queda aún una riqueza inexplorada que merece ser tomada en cuenta, se trata de la inteligencia de las personas que resisten a la pobreza extrema y luchan con todas sus fuerzas para que sus hijos no la padezcan. Su historia de resistencia se arraiga en su sentido de la dignidad, legado que dejaron sus antepasados durante años de constantes privaciones y humillaciones, siendo tratados como si no fueran seres humanos. Las crisis financieras, medioambientales y sociales que golpean nuestro mundo repercuten negativamente sobre las personas que viven en los lugares más denigrados de nuestro planeta y a diario sufren con creces las consecuencias: acceso a sus derechos cada vez más lejano y aumento de la desconfianza que se les tiene. Hasta les reprochan los esfuerzos que hacen para sobrevivir y seguir siendo solidarios; también a menudo se les acusa de degradar el medio ambiente. Se desconoce el impacto de dichas crisis en la vida de las poblaciones más pobres y las políticas adoptadas para corregir sus efectos no son reflexionadas con ellas. 1 ‘’La miseria es violencia, Romper el silencio, Construir la paz’’ constituye pues el corazón y el hilo conductor de una búsqueda llevada a cabo por el Movimiento ATD Cuarto Mundo en 25 países. Los actores, han sido personas en situación de gran pobreza e investigadores del mundo universitario comprometidos en una dinámica de ‘’Cruce de saberes’’, que han trabajado durante tres años juntos. Sus conclusiones son inapelables: ‘’La miseria, son injusticias y violencias en todos los sentidos’’. Their history of resistance is founded on their sense of dignity. They have inherited it from those who have preceded them throughout the centuries, in the face of constant deprivation and humiliation, treated as though they were no longer human beings.
