When someone is in the throes of their addiction—in this case alcohol—it is oftentimes difficult for them to gain a clear perspective of exactly what their addiction and their resulting behavior is doing to them and those around them—family members, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. The addiction and the compulsion to have another drink completely overtakes common sense and a clear decisionmaking process.
